A video showing some residents of Navrongo enthusiastically scrambling for the government subsidized Planting for Food and Jobs fertilizers has gone viral on various social media platforms.
In a clear manifestation of the positive effects of the Government’s social intervention policy in the agricultural sector, the happy looking residents are seen in long queues at one of the distribution outlets taking their turns to receive their inputs.
The Government’s Planting for Food and Jobs programme, which was introduced by President Nana Akufo Addo administration of the NPP has been described as a game-changer, after recording huge successes in the first two and half years of its implementation.
The programme has ensured increased yields in the production of major staple foods in the country, resulting in the exportation KFC surpluses to neighbouring countries.
Farmers income and livelihoods have also improved significantly whilst hundreds of thousands of jobs have also been created along the value chain.
Other sister policies such as the Rearing for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, Greenhouse Villages and Mechanization Centres are also expected compliment the successes achieved under the PFJ programme.
