Sekyere Central District Assembly vaccinates 20000 livestock

As part of activities to sustain the government flagship program dubbed “REARING FOR FOOD AND JOBS” the Sekyere Central District Assembly incollaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture is vaccinating 20,000 livestock to restore hope in farmers that had considered rearing as their alternate occupation aside the normal cultivation.

During the exercise, the DCE for the area Hon Kwadwo Banahene Badiako stated that,a lot of livestock die as a results of inability of farmers to vaccinate their animals and this, he believes that continue vaccination would help curb the menace.

The farmers had said that their animals always infected with diseases which kill them and it affects and this discourage them with their hopes to rearing these livestock.
But Hon. Banahene opined that, he would not relent on challenges confronting them.

He encouraged the farmers to put much efforts into what they are doing since the government has put measures in place to make farming become a lucrative job in his government.

He indicated that the NPP government now rolling Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development, Rearing for Food and Jobs and other policies to better the lives of farmers in the country are currently rolling.

The affable DCE observed that the cost of vaccination is been taking care of by the Assembly to show the Assembly’s readiness to support the farmers in the district.
Community like Oku among others in the district benefited from this laudable exercise.

Mr Samuel Adomako, the Sekyere Central District Veterinary officer appealed to the government to post more staff to the district to enable them go extra mile in their service delivery.

He explained that,the district comprises of 150 communities and currently there is only 2 veterinary officers at post which automatically indicates that they cannot do much.

He also unveiled that, the road network is bad to the extend that it puts their activities to a halt especially during raining season.

Farmers that had their animals vaccinated also expressed their joy on the honour done them by the DCE thanking him and Assembly for such action is laudable.
