Edward Kofi Osei was born on the 3rd January, 1959 at Bibiani in the Western Region of Ghana west Africa, Ghanaian/American Financial Analyst, Educator, Strategic Planner, Businessman and a Politician who served as the Director of TEMA Port (2017-2018)

Mr.osei is the son of Nana Adomako Ansah, chief of korkofu Asaman and Madam Mary Yaa Konadu, a daughter of Tweneboa Kodua from Kumawu Woraso.

EDUCATION

Lawyer Osei had his basic education from Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School in Kumawu and Mfantsipim in Cape Coast.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Ghana.

Dr. Edward Osei never reluctant of what he had acquired and went on to attain five (5) Masters’ Degrees outside Ghana to become an international product.

He has Master’s Degree in International Management from Baylor University, Texas, Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Yale University,
MBA from Stanford University, Masters in Taxation from New York University Law School and the last but not least a Jurist Doctor of Law from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

WORK EXPERIENCE

After his education, Lawyer Osei worked abroad with many companies and launched his political career outside Ghana whiles working.
Lawyer Edward Osei was appointed as the Director of Tema Port in 2017 by President Nana AKUFO-ADDO.

Before that he worked with many organizations worldwide including the law firm of Osei & Nelson LLP in Newark New Jersey and bronx, New York as a partner.

He was also a Professor at Widener university school of law in Delaware, USA for five years where he taught corporate, contract and tax law for five years.

He also worked in Senior Management at Boies, Schiller and Flexner LLP, Astra Zeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb Cola and Kodak.

POLITICAL AFFILIATION

Lawyer Osei as affectionately called in political circles is greatly proud to be affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) having served two terms as NPP Chairman of Pennsylvania.

He has chaired NPP-USA Fundraising Committee for election 2016. Furthermore, he served on the Legal and Constitutional Committee of NPP-USA provided some expertise and strategy and legal matters.

Dr. Edward Osei has originated number of policy directives for the NPP to raise funds to win power in last elecyions(2016) like adopt a polling station.

He is one of the founders of CENAB, Coalition to Elect Nana and Bawumia.

He has mentored several candidates in the rup-up to the 2016 elections for a successful victory of the NPP. He also worked in various constituencies of Volta, Northern, and Central regions of Ghana. He personally led and group adopted Karaga constituency worked with the NPP then Candidate and the Executives in the Northern Region and attracted resources for an eventual victory.

Dring the 2016 general elections, he provided the Kumawu constituency with T-Shrts and motorbikes. He also supported his constituency with cash during the 2016 elections and just ended limited voter registration exercise.
Lawyer Osei’s contribution towards the development of his Constituency (Kumawu) is unparalleled as he made several cash donations to support all the current executives of Kumawu Constituency in the last year’s constituency elections

To also make the Muslim brothers and sisters feel part of his benevolence, he has helped the Muslim communities in Kumawu constituency during Ramadan Festive.

With regards to developing the area, ‘A True Son of Tweneboah Kodua’ Lawyer Osei a product of Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School and double as a board member of Akyerema Foundation has supported the school with various projects including; Painting, supply of desk, Generator, basketball court just to mention but a few to make the school compete with the so-called grade one school’s in Ghana.

Now, on the area of creating jobs opportunity for the teaming youth in the constituency, he secured a lot jobs avenue for some of the youth from Kumawu and its environs at the Port and still doing more.

AS DIRECTOR OF TEMA PORT

In 2017, H. E. the President of Ghana, Nana AKUFO-ADDO appointed Dr. Edward Kofi Osei as Director of the largest port in Ghana, Tema Port to steer the affairs.

The revenue of the Tema Port increased by 24% in 2017 since he was appointed to manage the port while turnaround time of vessels improved by 20%.
Under his leadership, cargo through put also shot from 14million tons in 2017 to 16million tons in 2018.

The man who has paid his due to develop the country made the Tema Port most attractive Port for Ghana’s landlocked countries of Burkina Faso, Nigel and Mali and led to an increase in Transit Trade by 23.8 in 2017.

The affable man led a legacy at Tema Port as he (Edward Osei) facilitated an increase equipment and spare parts acquisition for the day-to-day operational activities.

He helped reduce the statutory debts of the company for example SSNT, Providence Fund and so on from GHC 11 million to GHC 3million for the benefit of the workers.

There were so many policy directions he provided to ensure the improvement of TEMA Port and the staff of the facility. Lawyer Osei worked with Ghana Dock Labour Company Management to ensure the welfare of casual workers are improved.

Edward Osei additionally introduced an open door policy, suggestion boxes, on the spot reward for exceptional employees.

Tema Port won many corporate awards under the able leadership of Dr. Edward Kofi Osei as Director, his colleagues, management and team.

The Sons of Tweneboah Kodua never disappoint, they excel any where they find themselves. From business, finance, education, politics and other entity, Lawyer Osei has really made a remarkable legacy.

Lawyer Osei currently is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of a consultancy firm called Stanford Madden Gh Limited, with aim of help bring foreign investors to Ghana.

He has held so many important positions in politics and world of businesses.

Dr. Edward Kofi Osei is a native of Kumawu-Woraso in the Ashanti Region. He is married to Joyce Awuku Darko, daughter of Mr. Awuku Darko, Minister of Works and Housing in the Busia’s regime. He has two lovely kids.
