Old Tafo Municipal No More Security Flash Point……… Reveals MCE

The Chief Executive of Old Tafo Municipal Assembly, Hon.Fred Obeng Ofosu at his encounter with the press and a town hall meeting with a cross section of the people within the municipality, has stated that gone are the days that Old Tafo and its nearby communities were identified as flash points due to poor security. Today, due to the competent leadership, the place is no more a flash point.

He indicated that immediately he took over as the MCE for the area he had a lot of consultations with stakeholders to ensure that, the necessary steps are taken to nip the precarious security situation in the bud, to ensure that the people there can go about their legitimate business and move around the municipality without fear of intimidation from criminals.

He assured that the municipality on the whole has been relatively peaceful , saying, that the peaceful atmosphere is very conducive for the thriving of business and other economic activities.

Touching on other development projects Hon. Fred Obeng Owusu said various projects have been executed within the last two years, by the Municipal Assembly in the area of education, sanitation, agriculture and other infrastructural projects which are now positively transforming the lives of the people in the area.

He added that in the area of road infrastructure, contractors have moved to site to fix the deplorable state of the road network in the area while other roads had already been fixed to boost commercial activities within Tafo enclave.

In education, Hon.Fred Obeng Owusu reported that the Assembly has been able to procure dual desks for all the basic Schools in the municipality.

In the area of sanitation the MCE said the refuse situation has improved tremendously. He said the unsightly sight of huge and unattended heaps of refuse are no longer common in the area, stressing that this modest improvement came as a result of the Assembly’s commitment and resolve to keep the municipality clean at all times to make it one of the cleanest municipality within the greater Kumasi.

On projects executed by the Government of Ghana(GOG) Hon Fred Obeng Owusu added that the assembly has constructed Storm Drain at Tafo 4 miles,Covert bridge at Tafo Adompon-Estate, 2km asphaltic overlay at Ahenbronoum inner roads and construction of New Methodist Park which is yet to be commissioned.

The Hon.MCE revealed that the Municipal Assembly has been able to pay a total amount of nineteen thousand, two hundred and seventy-eight Ghana Cedis to a total number of 55 beneficiaries under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty(LEAP) program; made up 44 females and 11males.

In the area of Agric,the MCE said that the Municipal Department of Agriculture has trained a number of prospective farmers desirous of venturing into full time farming as part of the planting for food and jobs module.

In conclusion, Hon.Fred Obeng Owusu commended the traditional leaders within Old Tafo Municipal Assembly for their contributions toward the development of the Assembly and also appealed to the people within the enclave to exercise restraint since His.Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo is poised to transform this country and Tafo Pankrono as a whole.
