The Obuasi divisional police command on Wednesday February 10, gunned down two suspected armed robbers during a gun battle with the robbers.
Two armed robbers have been shot dead by police in Obuasi after they tried robbing community miners at komfourkrom,a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti region.
Confirming the incident to the media, Chief Superintendent, Joseph Nyaaba, the Obuasi divisional police commander said “we had an information around 5:30pm on Wednesday that robbers are making an attempt to rob community miners at komfourkrom so we rushed there and met them”.
They shot in a taxi that was carrying some of our men alongside the police patrol car,we returned the shots and killed two of them, one also run away after sustaining injury”.
The police got one A.k 47 assault raffle and a locally made gun, however the third person bolted with a pistol but he’s suspected to be weak and might die soon due to the severity of the injury he sustained.
It’s quite vague, the nationality of these criminals, the commander believes they’re not Ghanaians “So far no family member have owned up to the corpses but from the look of things, they’re not Ghanaians” he said.
The divisional commander also said, security in Obuasi is very apt though several killings have been recorded in the past weeks.
Bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the Obuasi Government Hospital morgue while Police has open up investigation.
