The Parliamentary Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party in Yapei-Kusawgu in the Savannah Region Abu Kamara has died in a car accident.
Reports say the politician died with two others in the accident which occurred at Datoyili Police Barrier near Tamale in the Northern Region Friday night.
He was returning to Tamale after a project inspection tour when the incident occurred.
Abu Kamara reportedly crashed into an articulated truck and died on the spot at the Datoyili police barrier.
The leadership of the NPP in the Savannah Region confirmed the passing of Abu Kamara in a short statement.
“With a heavy heart, the Savannah Regional NPP and the party at large announce the unfortunate demise of our Parliamentary Candidate for the Yapei Kusawgu Constituency, Abu Kamara. He died with an aide, Majeed Kotochi (Young Chief) and another occupant in an unfortunate accident at the Datoyili police barrier. May their Souls Rest In Peace. Amen.”
At least two other Parliamentary candidates in this year’s polls have died over the last two weeks.
On Thursday, there was one-week observation for the passing of the Mfantseman Member of Parliament who was killed by suspected robbers, while the NDC has also lost a candidate in the Eastern region.
