Nigeria’s former environment minister,Amina Mohammed has formally been retained as deputy secretary general of the United Nations.
In an announcement made on her twitter page on Tuesday January 11,2022, mad. Amina said
“I begin this new term as a proud Nigerian woman with renewed hope in human solidarity and determination to keep the promise of the SDGs. We will leave no one behind”.
Madam Amina who has been playing this role for almost five years, has brought immense contribution to the U.N
Before joining the UN, she worked as the special advisor on the millenium development goals, providing advice on issues including poverty,public sector reform and sustainable development, and coordinating poverty reduction interventions in Nigeria.
