Ministry of Finance gives clearance for ambulance service recruitment

President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced the Finance Ministry has given clearance for the recruitment of 1,477 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

According to President Akufo-Addo, the recruitment process forms part of efforts to beef up personnel in the National Ambulance Service.

“We promised to strengthen the Ambulance Service and we are doing just that by addressing the non-existent dispatch system, training of paramedics and EMTs,” he said.

The President revealed this while speaking at the commissioning and the distribution of 307 ambulances for 275 constituencies across Ghana at the Black Star Square on Tuesday.

“The Ministry of Finance has given clearance to the Ambulance Service for the recruitment of 1,477 personnel out of which 577 have been recruitment with the second recruitment phase in progress,” he added.

Meanwhile, he assured the National Ambulance bill, which identifies sources of funding for the service, is currently before Cabinet to be forwarded to Parliament for consideration.
