Hundreds of people from Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, have benefited from free health screening exercise organised by Sompahemaa foundation.
The screening was sponsored by Mrs Irene Kyei Mensah, the wife of Majority leader in Parliament and been supported by her foundation known as Sompahemaa foundation.
Services rendered included general health checks, malaria tests, eye test, blood pressure, prostate cancer, hypertension and other diseases that can induce untimely death.
According to the President of the foundation Mrs.Irene Kyei Memsah, the decision to carry out the health screening exercise was because they had realised that Suame is a business area full of trading activities coupled with filter which has a tendency to endanger their health hence, free health screening to allow them examine their health.
She added that “most people here are traders and do not get time to go to hospital for health-related checkups.”
Mrs. Kyei Mensah said during the screening exercise that the foundation set out to impact lives and to help the needy in the community as their core mandate was to help the less privileged and to serve communities.
She indicated that health is wealth and for that matter there is the need to provide opportunity that can help the people to protect their health.
Mrs.Kyei Mensah throwing more light added that mental disease is one of the most dominant diseases that is seriously affecting people and appealed to the good people of this country to as a matter of urgency rush to health facilities for mental check ups.
She therefore urged the people of this country to refrain from throwing cabbages into gutters.
