The Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kweku Ofori Asiamah has warned those encroaching the properties of Ghana Airport Company and building on the land should put a stop to it.
According to him, there will not be any compensation for them.
“Government is not prepared to pay any unnecessary compensation to those encroaching on our land” Hon. Asiamah said
He made those known when toured the Kumasi International Airport extension today, Tuesday 30th, 2021.
Before then, the mister and his entourage had paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Asante Kingdom to pay homage and seek his blessings.
Briefing the media after the inspection, Mr. Ofori Asiamah expressed his satisfaction towards the work done by the contractor working on the site, the Contracta.
He believes that the timeline given will be met in respect to the completion of the phase two (2).
He also revealed that the the Airport City will be starting by the end of this year to ensure the facility is well positioned with it’s anxierious.
The project when completed will ensure international plights been flown in and out.
The people in Ashanti Region will no longer go through hustle in boarding floor flights in Accra.
The resident engineer for Contracta company, Nana Ametekpe reiterated the company’s readiness to meet the deadline of the completion of the phase two of the project by June 2020
Although he said , they had been affected by the COVID pandemic , he gave the assurance that project will be completed within scheduled period.
He assured that they are doing everything possible to finish it and recounted how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected their operations.
