Demolishing exercise of the 45 year old KATH Maternity block by government has been started.

Public affairs director of KATH, Mr Kwame Frimpong who disclosed to Kessbenfm’s Osempakani Sampson revealed that, according to the contractor, the building is not fit for the purpose.

He explained that an independent and the contractor structural engineers advised to demolished the facility than reconstruction due to the weakness of some pillars and some foundation of the building.

Mr Frimpong indicated that, proposal was sent to cabinet because of the the engineer advise and Cabinet on thoroughly study accepted the proposal in God faith.


Mr Kwame Frimpong remarked that after the demolishing, government will build another Maternity block.

Excavators and other requisite demolishing machines were on the grounds for the exercise during the visit.
