The Second Vice chairman for Suame Constituency of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Richard Asante, has expressed worry at the high rate of corruptible practices embodied with the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
According to him, currently parents whose wards were not placed in their preferred schools, pay at least GH5,000 and GH3,500 for grade ‘A’ and ‘B’ schools respectively.
Such amount, he said, is even higher than the total fees payable for the three years duration for second cycle education if there is no Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy.
Speaking to Omanhene, the host of Maakye Morning show on Kessben TV/FM yesterday , Mr Asante, described such act as thievery since there is no legal basis for collecting such money from parents for such placement.
According to him, the change of schools under this corruptible scheme, takes place within few hours including Saturday and Sundays .
Such act, he said, negatively affects the brain behind CSSPS which automatically and manually places students into senior high, technical and vocational schools.
Mr Asante therefore called on government to put in place effective mechanism to check such corruptible practices.
