Some aggrieved residents and road users have registered their displeasure at the deplorable road network in the Suhum Municipality, especially the stretch of road at Nankese Abesim.
The aggrieved road users bemoan the long hours one has to endure on the short section of road, due to the deplorable conditions.
Residents have therefore called on the Government to fix the many abandoned roads in the Suhum Municipality including the Abesim Nankese road before the next general elections in 2020.
In an interview with some of the residents, they indicated that if the road Minister Hon. Amoako Atta could not award the roads on contract, then the MP Hon. Opare Ansah and the Municipal Chief Executive, Margret Darko should come to their aid.
“ Tell our MP and the MCE they should come to our aid if the government has not been able to provide funding for them to complete works on these roads. The MP and MCE should be able to use some of the funds that they have here to pay the contractors to come and level up the road.
Some residents who sad they started using these roads so many years back as the only link to other major roads such as the Suhum, Koforidua, Tafo, Akwadum and others, shared their displeasure. They said, that the President on his campaign trail in 2016, drove in his V8 to the area and promised them that if they voted him to power he will fix the roads for them, but 3years into his administration nothing has been done about roads.
They complained about how pregnant women lose their lives being carried on motorbikes; the only reliable means of transport, due to the poor nature of the roads when being sent to access madical attention in the major towns. And threatened, that they will advise themselves in the 2020 general elections.
The Gyaasehene of the area Baafour Boafo, speaking time the media lamented that, we all know as a matter of fact that good roads are needed in every commercial area to help the easy access to the community by commuters and all other vehicles to convey goods and services.
