Students of Santasi M/A Primary and Junior High School (JHS) in the Nyiaeso Constituency of the Ashanti Region are in sorrow as miscreants turn the classrooms into ‘ghetto base.”
The classrooms have been turned into a ‘brothel’ for prostitution and illegal drugs.
The students of the school say the activities of these miscreants leave their classrooms in a mess all the time, noting they have to sweep used condoms, marijuana herbs and faeces every morning before class commences.
The students lamented that their lives are threatened by the activities of the miscreants.
“The activities of the ‘Wee smokers’ are seriously affecting teaching and learning in this school because sometimes we go to classrooms late after cleaning their faeces,” the students complained.
They’ve however appealed to authorities and the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwesi Mensah Duku to come to their aid by strengthening security situations in the school.
The situation, students say is coupled with congestion in some classrooms due to inadequate of furniture in the school.
“Four or Five students have to sit on one dual desk. The situation is so pathetic and sad. We don’t feel comfortable when a teacher is teaching us. We need more dual desk in our schools,” a student appealed.
Deputy PTA Chairman of the School Mr. Thomas Kobina Attom, in an interview said the association is worries over developments and that are taken steps to address the issues.
He appealed to the security agency to help curb the menace. “We are appealing to stakeholders, authorities and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso constituency Hon Kennedy Kankam to come to the aid of the school”.
